A designer can help at any stage of the design process however, the best results come when your designer is involved from the beginning. For example, if you are currently looking to acquire property, a designer can help assist you in the home shopping experience.

The design build process offers a turnkey experience for remodeling projects by combining interior design, architecture, and construction into one service. A design build team consists of a builder, architect, and interior designer who work together to manage your project from start to finish. This includes design plans, building permit coordination, project expediting, contracting, material procurement, and final sign offs. This collaborative effort ensures that every last detail supports the overall goal and creative vision.
Design + Build is ideal for renovating whole homes where a cohesive high end design is desired. It is not suitable when remodeling single rooms or selected spaces inside a home. In this case, traditional interior design is more appropriate.

Interior designers place a distinct priority on one’s lifestyle and use of interior space, while Architects often begin their work on a structure’s exterior envelope and mechanical functions. Simply put, Architects design from the outside in, and Interior Designers from the inside out. Both specialists in their fields, Architects and Interior Designers often collaborate to specify a property from it’s exterior walls down to the last interior detail.

We are based in Queens NY and specialize in the unique qualities of urban homes. Our service area is located from Upper Westchester to Washington DC and everything in between.

Yes! Our design studio and showroom is located in Long Island City, Queens and open by appointment. We also arrange for private tours of other showrooms and hand deliver material samples in order to fully customize the interior selection process.

Pricing

Our full service fees are charged monthly on a retainer basis. This provides unrestricted access to our entire suite of services. In total, these fees typically cost between 15-20% of your project’s total budget depending on the scope of work.

Ward 5 Design works on highly customized design projects that produce exceptional results for our clients. We ensure these high quality results by asking that our clients set aside a minimum budget of $225 per square foot for their project.

Yes! We work with fixed budgets through our Design + Consult program which gives you full control over the money you spend while achieving a designer look in the process.
Material & Furniture Pricing

No. You are under no obligation to purchase items from Ward 5 and may elect to buy materials and furnishings on your own and coordinate the logistics.

When we handle the procurement, we can focus on finding materials that fit the design, budget, and timeline of your project, we can make adjustments on the fly based on availability and the cost we give you is fully inclusive of all the logistics involved.
When you purchase materials on your own, you’ll find the items you like from a retail store, make sure the item is in stock, pay the retailer, coordinate delivery to your home, and arrange for assembly or installation.

No. Our policy at Ward 5 is to offer you the best quality and turnaround time in current market conditions, whatever they may be.

Yes. Ward 5 is a NY State registered reseller which means we purchase items directly from wholesale suppliers and exclusive trade partners for the purposes of resale. The items you purchase from Ward 5 Design are unique in that they include the following in the purchase price:

That depends entirely on your personal selections. Ward 5 regularly stocks a large quantity of high quality sustainable materials and furnishings in our showroom. These materials, fixtures, and furnishings are exclusively available to our clients at discounted prices. If you decide to use these items for your project, the discount will often be significant (30% or more). If you prefer to purchase items outside of our stock and wholesale stock, the cost of each item could exceed MSRP.
